Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Abdolhossein Khosropanah issued a message mourning the loss of the prominent scholar, describing it as a profound loss for the nation's scientific and religious community.
The full text of Khosropanah's message is as follows:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
"To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return."
The passing of the devoted divine scholar, the forward-thinking jurist, and the great researcher of the Islamic seminaries—Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Ebrahim Janati—has caused deep sorrow and grief for myself and the country's scholarly community.
The blessed departed was among those great jurists who, benefiting from the luminous guidance of towering pillars of jurisprudence in holy Najaf and holy Qom, succeeded in establishing a firm connection between the "authenticity of tradition" and the "requirements of the time."
His scientific endeavors in authoring the enduring and authoritative work Adwar al-Ijtihad (The Periods of Ijtihad) not only opened a new chapter in the historiography of Islamic jurisprudence but also provided a roadmap for transformation in jurisprudential deduction and the dynamism of the Islamic seminaries.
The unrivaled expertise of this pillar of knowledge in "comparative jurisprudence" and his comprehensive command over the views of various Islamic schools of thought had made him a figure of rapprochement and unity. With scholarly freedom and courage in jurisprudential deduction, he offered pioneering fatwas in emerging fields, women's rights, and the purity of human beings—fatwas that demonstrated his incisive intellect and his firm philosophical and jurisprudential foundations.
I extend my condolences for the loss of this solid pillar of jurisprudence and esteemed teacher to the sacred presence of Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his noble reappearance), the grand sources of emulation (may their blessings endure), the Islamic seminaries of Qom, Najaf, and Mashhad, his students and admirers, and especially his honorable family and his virtuous sons.
I beseech the Almighty to grant the departed scholar exalted ranks and reunion with the Imams of Guidance (peace be upon them), and to bestow upon the bereaved patient fortitude and abundant reward in bearing this painful loss.
